Around Swinburne there are a number of shops and restaurants including Woolworths, Coles and a variety of coffee shops.

From the Melbourne airport, the best option is to take the SkyBus to Southern Cross Station in the heart of Melbourne. Fares are up to $38 (round trip) and tickets can be purchased here. From Southern Cross you can take a train towards Swinburne University on either the Lilydale or Belgrave train lines. Both of these lines stop at Glenferie station which is on the Swinburne campus. Almost all other train lines connect to Southern Cross so travelling elsewhere is also easy.

You will need to purchase a Myki card for public transport within Melbourne (including train, tram or bus). You cannot purchase single tickets with cash. Myki cards can be purchased and topped up with money at most major stations (including Southern Cross and Glenferrie). Trips cost approximately $4.80.

Workshop Dinner

On the Thursday Night we will hold the workshop dinner at Ginza Teppanyaki. Prices start at $59 per person for non-vegetarians $42 per person for vegetarians. We will release payment information soon.

To reach the restaurant, we recommend taking the City train from Glenferrie (at Swinburne) to Central Station, followed by a ~5 minute walk into Chinatown. Again, to use Melbourne public transport you will require a Myki card.

There are several hotels within a few minutes walking distance of Swinburne, and many more options a short train or tram ride away. The Glenferrie Hotel, Quest Hawthorn, and Richmond Hill Hotel are a few we suggest. Rooms at these hotels will be $100-$200 per night. You can find plenty more accommodation options here.
